Jobs for Youth & the Opening of a Pre- Apprenticeship Facility
Queen’s Park – In a speech in the Legislature today, local M.P.P. Mario Sergio announced the opening of a pre-apprenticeship facility in the riding of York West.
Mr. Sergio states: "A space that before was un-utilized, is now providing students, hands on learning experience, as well as Computer Assisted Machine Training for industrial woodworking. We are well aware; there has long been a cry in the market place for skilled trades people. I am delighted that establishments such as these, along with the 18 million dollars that is now allotted for Ontario’s apprenticeship training program, will help in opening the gate for the success of our youth and the future prosperity of our great province."
Those interested in apprenticeship programs can contact: (416)-326-5656 for opportunities training in Auto Body and Mechanical Repairs, Construction and Maintenance Electrician, Hairstylists, Educational Helper, Industrial Mechanic, General Carpenter, Horticultural Technician, Sheet Metal Worker, Truck and Coach Technician, Cooks, Hardware Technology Support Analyst, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, etc.
Mr. Sergio also reminds the community of the 57,000 summer jobs available for youth or those who want to start their own business, through Ontario Summer Jobs. Those interested can contact www.edu.gov.on.ca or the Ontario government’s youthjobs.gov.on.ca site, the Training Hotline at 1-888-JOB-GROW.
The pre-apprenticeship woodworking facility, which opened Friday, was established with the positive partnership and co-operation of the Maintenance and Construction Skilled Trades Council, Design and Construction Services, the Toronto District School Board, 1072 Industrial Woodworkers and the Carpenters Union Local 27.
