York West Packaging Company Things Outside The Box
McGuinty Government Helps Pioneering Company Grow, Create Jobs

York West - An innovative, local company will use a provincial government loan of $ 790,000 to develop a new line of its unique packaging technology.

Pack-Smart Inc.’s ambitious growth plans include expanding its current workforce of 25 to in excess of 100 over the next five years.  Ontario is providing the loan to support the company’s $7.9-million expansion project.

“This is good news for our community.  Our government continues to show its commitment to working with industry to strengthen local economies,” said  Mario Sergio, MPP York West

The company designs and manufactures machines and complete automated systems for the packaging and printing industry.

Pack-Smart has developed pioneering, electronically geared technology that has the flexibility to handle a variety of different packing and assembly tasks.  The new machines will enable the company’s customers to cut processing times, use new eco friendly plastics and adhesives and save raw materials, while improving package appearance.

“Here’s a company with innovative people and products.  That’s a winning combination that puts Ontario ahead in world markets and creates good jobs at home.  Our government wants to do everything it can to help companies like this succeed,” said Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sandra Pupatello.

“Our company has always looked beyond the limitations of existing technologies and conventional thinking.  At Pack-Smart we believe that Canadians have an important role to play on the global scene, leading the way for a greener world.  With this investment we can take our products to the next level of innovation and offer even greater benefit for our customers and the packaging industry,” said Pack-Smart President Derek Dlugosh-Ostap.
